Sandy Key Perdido Attractions Off The Sand

Sandy Key Perdido is famous for its miles of beautiful
beaches and stunning ocean vistas. But did you know that
there are also lots of things that you can do ' for free or
nearly free ' just off the coastline? So when the kids are
tired of the sand, your sunburn is feeling a little tender
or you're just ready for a change of pace, try out these
area attractions and enjoy a different side of Sandy Key
Perdido.

Big Lagoon State Park:

Not only does this extensive wildlife preserve offer miles
of beaches, boating and fishing, you can also enjoy miles
of hiking trails, spot rare birds in the salt marshes and
try your hand at shallow-water crabbing before sitting down
in the shade for a delicious picnic lunch beneath the
shelter of majestic pines and oaks. Big Lagoon's volunteer
organization, Friends of Big Lagoon, host special events
and festivals throughout the year, so check out the state
park's website for up-to-the-minute event agendas.

Twilight Golf and Other Sporting Packages:

Depending on the season and the time of day, local courses
offer some really impressive rates as well as gorgeous
vistas, lessons for parents and kids and special packages
for groups and families. Touring the courses, father-son
lessons or couple's outings are all great ways to enjoy
this classic sport together for years and years to come.
Continue an old tradition or create a new one on Sandy Key
Perdido golf courses.

Ice Hockey:

Get a taste of winter at the beach! For nearly half the
year, nearby Pensacola hosts its very own hockey team.
Tickets are priced low to keep the community involved, and
you can even meet the players and coaches at many events.

Nightlife, Restaurants and Local Festivals:

A little-known haven for songwriters and musicians, Sandy
Key Perdido plays host to a yearly music festival and many
other celebrations of the arts throughout the year. Whether
you're hoping to be discovered yourself or just dance to
some beach tunes, nightly live music in local restaurants
and bars is a fun way to enjoy a romantic ' but lively '
evening with the one or ones you love.

As you can tell by its name, Sandy Key Perdido is
definitely known for its beautiful beaches, but many people
do not think to explore the bountiful offerings of Sandy
Key Perido located off the sand.
